Fishers on the Green Roads
Barrie Rickards
There are few people who fished as much as Barrie Rickards. Over fifty years he travelled the world in pursuit of a vast number of different fish and wrote numerous articles and books on angling. Fishers on the Green Roads was his first fishing novel, semi-autobiographical, which took him back to his roots. Set in the Ridings of Yorkshire in the post-war period, it recalls the formative years of a young angler and his experiences in the delightful English countryside of the 1940s and 50s. The book is beautifully illustrated by Rebecca Freear.
'. . . this book was like a wonderful journey back to childhood. A time when angling activities were more sensibly mixed in with other countryside activities . . . this is a book which can be enjoyed not only by anglers and nature lovers, but also by anyone with an interest in just having a good read.' - Bill Winship, Pikelines
'I enjoyed the book immensely. It was just like my childhood and my upbringing, and it brought some great memories flooding back. . . Go out and buy this book, then really read it, and take on board what it has to say. It is more than just an angling book.' - Des Taylor, Angling Times
