Hampton’s Angling Bibliography
Callahan & Morgan
In 1947 Herbert Jenkins published Modern Angling Bibliography - a book by John Fitzgerald Hampton. It was the first new British angling bibliography since Bibliotheca Piscatoria, by Westwood and Satchel in 1883 (added to by R. B. Marston in 1901). His 1947 book was intended to be a stop-gap while he worked on what would eventually be a true British angling bibliography. It was the draft of this new work that has been used as the basis for this new edition. This new book contains titles and details on virtually all British angling books published between 1881 and 1949. It is a wholly new work, including the corrected and augmented entries from Hampton’s original book and manuscript, plus additions by Ken Callahan and Paul Morgan that exceed in number Hampton's own original material! This work has eventually resulted in a much needed and indispensable new reference to British angling books.
