M & A Ward
One of four boys, Michael Ward grew up in Ewell, Surrey and went to school at City Freemens in Ashtead. He studied and became a Chartered Valuations Surveyor. Audrey and Michael married in Epsom, moved to Chelmsford where he became a Partner in a local firm. They had three children and became involved in a variety of fund-raising charities. Early in retirement Michael undertook an epic walk from coast to coast to raise money for Rotary charities and for Acorn, a charity supporting people with a mental disability. Shortly after completing this he developed motor neurone disease and died five years later. The publication of the Toll House book was a project close to both their hearts.
