The very well known and indeed highly collectible British series of popular fishing books known as How to Catch Them originally comprised a total of forty-four titles and they were first published in the 1950s and 60s by Herbert Jenkins of London. Acquisition of some titles, such as Specimen Fish or some of the later sea angling books Cod, Bass or Mackerel, would require quite a start-ling outlay of hard cash, particularly when we consider the original selling prices of 3/6, 4/6 or a round 5/-. Five bob, or shillings, just 25p in modern parlance . . . it’s enough to make a chap feel ancient . . .
