Issue 58 - 'Mr Jim

Jim Hardy: tall, distinguished and with a ready smile, is the last member of the Hardy dynasty to have worked in the world-famous tackle company founded in Alnwick in Northumberland in 1872. His career spanned four decades, encompassing a number of major changes: the retirement of the last of the second generation of Hardys, the acquisition of the company by the Harris and Sheldon leisure group, and the advent of new rod-building materials. Jim retired in 1992. He has arranged for me to visit the company’s Willowburn site with him.
