Issue 53 - John Dory
I've never caught a John Dory (though I've eaten a good many) and there's an excellent reason for that. I just haven't been lucky enough. Whatever anglers who have caught one might say, the truth is that every single JD ever landed was caught by pure accident.You don't hear anglers on the quay saying, Beautiful morning for a big Dory! do you? There are no John Dory specialists, no exclusive John Dory Catchers Club, with a special tie and an annual dinner, for guys who've caught one over 5lb. There are no sniffy-nosed purists who insist on fly fishing for them.
