Editorial 69 - The good news is . . .

The good news is that the Angling Trust is going to survive its first year - the bad news is that it has only managed to do so by making severe economies - much of its work has had to be cancelled or postponed and we are left with a pale shadow of the powerful umbrella organisation we thought we were getting. The real reason for the crisis is that only a tiny percentage of the expected membership has materialised; instead of finding itself with a mandate to act on behalf of the majority of anglers, only a few thousand have joined and, as a subscription-based organisation, the Trust is paralysed for want of cash.
